Learning to tune the guitar can sometimes be one of the hardest tasks for the beginner, and an out of tune guitar is very uninspiring, so let’s begin with the basics.
If we over-tighten a string, the string will break and need replacing. Using a digital guitar tuner is the most accurate way for you to tune the guitar. Clip-on digital guitar tuners offer the most effective method of tuning using both sound and vibration to accurately help tune the guitar to your desired pitch.
Once you have your guitar tuner in place, It’s essential for us to learn the names of the open guitar strings. This will enable us to successfully tune our guitars to concert pitch (standard tuning) and prevent any string breakages.
A popular way to remember string names is to memorise the following phrase: Elephants And Donkeys Grow Big Ears. Take the first letter of each word in the phrase, and you will be able to identify your guitar strings with ease.
