STUDENTS PREPARE FOR THE SPRING RGT/LCM GUITAR EXAMS

Happy New Year! OK, so I may be a little late in writing my first blog of 2015, but January was absolute madness at Guitar School. We have been busy getting our students ready to enrol for their RGT (Registry of Guitar Tutors/LCM London College of Music) acoustic, electric and bass guitar examinations this spring. There is some really good talent here at Guitar School with our young students excelling in all aspects of their playing. I'm really looking forward to the future and seeing them progress hopefully into professional musicians. Good luck to you all for the spring!

As always we have been working on our ever popular ‘Riff Of The Month’ section in your lessons. So far have covered ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’ by Pat Benatar and ’Californication’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I hope you have all have enjoyed learning these guitar riffs as much as I have enjoyed teaching them. I have also introduced some speed and finger strengthening exercises to our sessions in the hope you will become a more rounded, faster and competent lead guitar player.

The music therapy sessions I run for people suffering with dementia have also gained a new feature. Our ‘Featured Artist’ section has provided reminiscence and a really good focal and discussion section to our sessions. This is particularly designed to rekindle memories through our clients favourite music throughout their lifetime. We've already featured songs from Gerry & the Pacemakers, Buddy Holly, Bruce Springsteen, The Hollies, Bobby Darin and Don McLean. I will be continuing to run this feature throughout the year.

I’m going to try and keep these blogs as regular as I can this year, but please bare with me as my work schedule between teaching, music therapy sessions, writing articles, transcribing, recording, mixing and producing sometimes doesn't even leave enough time for sleep! :)

See you soon and keep rockin'!
